His Angel is the
first book I have read by this author, I was gifted a copy of the book in
exchange for an honest review so here goes.
This book is a
bit of an enigma, I’ve just finished it and to be honest I’m still not entirely
sure what the hell just happened.
So much happens
and there is an incredibly complicated plot that twists and weaves through the
book. This is not a story you can dip in and out of it’s a sit down with a
blanket and a bottle of wine and plow straight through start to finish. Mainly
because if you blink you could miss an incredibly important plot point that is
drip fed to us slowly. I’m cautioning because if you do miss something the rest
of the plot won’t make any sense.
Abby is a broken,
mixed up mess!!!! She’s obviously suffering from depression and the poor girl
really needed a hug. I will be honest her character is completely one dimensional
until she first meets Evan. One she sets eyes on him her character literally
inflates and materialises into a witty, enigmatic girl.
She still has
moments when she’s a whiny annoying pain in the butt lol
Now Evan is a
walking, talking fantasy he’s big, alpha, sexy and probably as messed up as
Abby is but in a different way.
This is going to
be incredibly difficult without revealing any spoilers so sorry if this is
No one is who
they appear and nothing is a coincident in this book, at times I was super
confused but in the end it all makes sense... sort of!!
Evan is definitely
a split personality but whoever he is he is obsessively in love with Abby. I
mean the guy worships the ground she walks on. And I think we would all be
surprised what kind of sins we would forgive for that kind of love and
This story will
keep you intrigued till the last page!!!
The plot is left wide open for the next book in
the series and I genuinely have no idea what will happen!!
His Angel gets 3.5 stars from me.
I’m in the tub shriveling up like a prune until the water becomes cold. I let the water out to run down the drain and grab the towel that hangs on the wall. I’m so exhausted from crying I don’t have the energy to dry myself off. With water dripping off of my hair and body, I open the door and there stands Evan, tall, dark, and dangerous.
He’s dangerous for me in this moment. I want to connect, but this is going to end badly. Badly is the only way this canend.
"Abby?" His warm hand reaches up to my face. "Are you ok? I heard you crying.”
“What do you care Evan? Isn’t there a hot, dark-haired woman at the club you would rather talk to?” Ok so I’m totally being a bitch. He was only talking to her and we had a great time after and he isn't my man. I’m just being sensitive I guess.
“Abby, there isn't anyone anywhere that I want more than I want you right now.
In this moment I could go to my room and cry until I can’t breathe or I can live for the now. Live in it with this beautiful man. As soon as he sees the broken crumbling Abby he will leave. Of that I am most certain.
He searches my face, but I am too numb to answer his earlier question, there are no answers for me to give. I am hollow, empty, and tired of being alone. I can’t swallow the lump in my throat.
"Tell me what you’re feeling, Abby.”
I can’t speak, I try, but the words won’t come out. I want this man in front of me, more than that I need him; on me, in me, around me. I need him to drown out the rejection.
"Abby, I need to know what you’re feeling." His face is so perfect, innocent and yet he’s so bad all at the same time. His dimples sit on either side of his cheeks, his bright blue eyes hide so many things, and his lips are plump and wanting. I can’t take my eyes off of his lips. I lick mine in response.
"Amy went to Dom’s and I told her I would stay and look after you.”
So we’re alone? Every thought leaves my head in that very second. I reach for his face letting my towel fall from my body. He stares at me questionably, but I still don’t have the answers. He reaches for my hips pulling me to him. His hands are hot and wanting. I’m ice cold and I need his warmth; I crave it, on me, in me.
His lips meet mine with gentle force that commands me to reciprocate. I run my hands through his hair wanting to lose myself in him.
"Are you sure? Please... tell me you’re sure!" His demand is so sexy. His lips barely leave mine as he speaks.
“I need this, I so want this," I breathe in his mouth. Please don’t hurt me.
Kimberly has been writing since she was a young girl growing up in Kansas City, Mo. Reading and writing has always been a big part of her life. She enjoys a world she can get lost in while reading a good book. A wife and mother to four beautiful children she decided she wasn’t busy enough. She spent some time chasing down fugitives as a bounty hunter then laid down her hand cuffs and finished her college degree in nursing.
Kimberly loves discovering new music to jam out to and loves anything that’s different. Her many interests include Google, you heard it! Google. If you need to know any unusual or interesting fact she has searched it and can recite it. Her motto is: Why be the same as everyone else when you can stand out?
When Kimberly isn’t writing or playing superhero for her children, she takes care of her patients as a Registered nurse in the field of hospice.
As the title of my blog gives away I read a lot!!! I love the escapism of a good book and sometimes I even enjoy the release I get from moaning about a rubbish book.
Im not sure anyone will ever read my reviews but I'm going to do them anyway.... sometimes I read so much and so quickly that I can completely forget what ive read or the reasons I loved them so this way I can gain a little perspective.
I have a facebook page and I would love it if anyone who reads any of my reviews pops over to FB and gives me a quick like.
Also im constantly looking for recommendations so if you've read something you think I would enjoy please comment and let me know.
